A Day's Work
experiences
a red season shade
It was a sunny day of september 2004, exactly the 18th.Our dream
was finally come true. We were in Amsterdam, city we already loved
before but this time was exceptional for us : We were there to record
our first album with our idols ( yeah really ).The Dufry studio
is ideally
placed in Amsterdam, in the town center, in a beautiful building
where
you'll find hospitality, kindness and above all friends for life...you'll
understand why "Jesus loves you" is written above...
The Studio is rather small but you got all the stuff you need to
realize YOUR album and don't worry, Rene and Danny will find immediately
which stuff you need to get the sound you want. And if you're shy
guys like us, it's not a problem they help you to give the best...Step
by step, and with the help of our producer Minco Eggersman, we recorded
the drums, bass, guitars, vocals and the arrangements ( my favorite
part !) with an incredible trumpet player Hans Levinga and some
special rene's keys... We were fine in the studio whereas the rain
fell and it was cold outside...
We lived during 3 weeks in this building and this studio, drunk
a lot of coffee, played Xbox, laughed with Rene a.k.a "crazy
hair" De Vries, Danny a.k.a "best dude ever" Stimac
and Minco a.k.a" Minco and the dwarves" Eggersman. We'd
like to say a huge thanks to all the Sam's inn for all those incredible
moments and memories, especially Rick and Luc. We'll never forget
our first studio session at Dufry and we'll come
back soon to record another great album. THANK YOU GUYS. WE LOVE
YOU.GOD BLESS YOU.
Dufry is not an ordinary music studio, it's a life experience...

With most of the stuff recorded, I went to Amsterdam with a spindel-o-discs,
knowing that Rene woud get me a sweet deal for making this site,
and in a request for his magic. After having worked our way through
some hardware antimagic, everything blossomed...
I had the arrangments made for the songs, but Rene would impart
details where I didn't know they were needed, and it really made
the music click. It made ANTIKRAFT change the arrangements we use
live, which really means something. One thing I did learn is that
you need to plan. yes. If you 're not clear on the time you want
to spend in the studio you can be so creatively occupied that you
need to plan more time in the dungeons of Amsterdam.
... Occasionally, Danny would come up with daring ideas that totally
kept the creative flow dynamic, give me feedback on the lyrics (being
of English tongue...), and showed excellent craftmanship with the
tech stuff! Talking of which: either I need a kick in the cushion
for trying to get Dufry to work with MIDI, or Rene needs some convincing
on that point... (can't be all same-minded, can you?)
Anyway, I had such fun, Rene would even let me totally waste my
night on his gamebox till early in the morning, while he was gone
(we go way back so don't just choose this studio expecting this
service...) (probably better not to want that either) If you want
to go here, try writing some songs with a heavy flow, just to see
Rene raving and banging his head by his computerscreen, it's priceless!
Would even be worth trashing the songs afterwards -for fools.
love, Daniel

When it comes to recording music, it’s not all about the studio,
but it’s also about the people that work there. René
de Vries has a broad musical experience as a performer, as a composer
and as a songwriter. His mind is constantly looking for what’s
best for your band and your songs. I have not worked in a lot of
different studio’s, but I’d recommend the Dufry studio
to anyone. René has the ability to take your music to the
next level. He did it with my songs and he can do it with yours.

a balladeer
ongelofelijk muzikaal.
gelukte opnames ooit geworden.

A day's work
sound wij willen neerzetten.
Daarnaast is
