Ik heb mijn album Hoe je Honing Maakt (en de single Ik heb een meisje) opgenomen in de Dufry studio en dat was een heerlijke plek om het doen. Ik had het niet anders gewild. Het geheim van de Dufry studio schuilt in twee dingen: de goeie vibes van de plek, en Rene zelf. Qua techniek is de studio van alle gemakken voorzien, maar belangrijker nog is het feit dat Rene gewoon een fijne sfeer creeert om te musiceren. Rene en zijn studio zijn rustig en efficient. Daarnaast is hij zelf ook van alle markten thuis: hij is een uitstekende technicus, producer, mixer, multi-instrumentalist en begeleidend psycholoog. Ik kan Dufry van harte aan iedereen aanbevelen.

Marten Lemstra
Drum recordings can be tricky. You need a nice sounding acoustic environment and of course the right recording gear. Rene has a beautiful sounding live room, with a lot of wood, and the most important mics and pre-amps you need. These ingredients make Rene s studio a very nice place to work in. On top of that: Rene is a very professional and nice guy, his vision on how parts could be played, and how things eventually will sound like is very inspirational and helpful.

Marinus de Goederen
I am very happy I worked with René for my first solo album. He is very creative and a very good arranger. (And is there any instrument he DOES NOT play?) His ideas are original and fresh and he is very open for other ideas as well. I am very happy to have worked with him. And I probably will again in the future.

Antonie Fountain
We have recorded with many people, but each time we come back to René. His creative input takes our songs to a higher level each time. Am terribly happy with what we ve been recording over the last few months, which is our third collaboration with him. Besides being a great guy, he is a whole lotta bang for you buck!

When it comes to recording music, it’s not all about the studio, but it’s also about the people that work there. René de Vries has a broad musical experience as a performer, as a composer and as a songwriter. His mind is constantly looking for what’s best for your band and your songs. I have not worked in a lot of different studio’s, but I’d recommend the Dufry studio to anyone. René has the ability to take your music to the next level. He did it with my songs and he can do it with yours.

With most of the stuff recorded, I went to Amsterdam with a spindel-o-discs, knowing that Rene woud get me a sweet deal for making this site, and in a request for his magic. After having worked our way through some hardware antimagic, everything blossomed... I had the arrangments made for the songs, but Rene would impart details where I didn't know they were needed, and it really made the music click. It made ANTIKRAFT change the arrangements we use live, which really means something. One thing I did learn is that you need to plan. yes. If you 're not clear on the time you want to spend in the studio you can be so creatively occupied that you need to plan more time in the dungeons of Amsterdam. ... Occasionally, Danny would come up with daring ideas that totally kept the creative flow dynamic, give me feedback on the lyrics (being of English tongue...), and showed excellent craftmanship with the tech stuff! Talking of which: either I need a kick in the cushion for trying to get Dufry to work with MIDI, or Rene needs some convincing on that point... (can't be all same-minded, can you?) Anyway, I had such fun, Rene would even let me totally waste my night on his gamebox till early in the morning, while he was gone (we go way back so don't just choose this studio expecting this service...) (probably better not to want that either) If you want to go here, try writing some songs with a heavy flow, just to see Rene raving and banging his head by his computerscreen, it's priceless! Would even be worth trashing the songs afterwards -for fools. love, Daniel

Eind 2003 hebben we ons met a balladeer opgesloten om onze EP Rumor Had It op te nemen. De opnames vonden plaats in Dufry Studio, een kleine maar fijne studio tegenover Amsterdam Centraal. René de Vries stond aan het roer. René is snel, vindingrijk en ongelofelijk muzikaal. Volgens mij is er niet één instrument dat hij niet kan bespelen. Na de opames van de EP hebben René en ik nog samen aan een track gewerkt waar ik hem bijna volledig zijn gang heb laten gaan. Het is een van a balladeers best gelukte opnames ooit geworden. A day's work
We hebben nu drie keer bij René opgenomen (drowning in what I believe, een demo feb 05 en onze nieuwe plaat) en alledrie de keren is het ons uitstekend bevallen. Het is zeer prettig samenwerken. We hoeven hem niet uit te leggen wat we precies willen, omdat hij dat heel goed aanvoelt. René heeft precies door wat voor sound wij willen neerzetten. We hoeven niet bij elk nummer opnieuw uit te leggen hoe het moet klinken. Verder werkt hij snel, grondig, is geduldig en heeft zelf ook prachtige ideeën. Daarnaast is het ook nog een toffe gozer. De studio zelf werkt ook prettig. De opname ruimte is ruim, je kunt er met de hele band tegelijk opnemen als het moet. Je zit niet continu op elkaars lip met opnemen. Er is een mooie ruimte om even te relaxen. De faciliteiten zijn erg goed. Alles wat je nodig hebt is er. Alles wat je niet nodig hebt, kan je buiten kopen (Amsterdam, centrum). Tenslotte is de samenwerking met de Mailmen Studio in Utrecht ook goed. Dat is wel handig aangezien daar het meeste mix en master werk gebeurt. René en Martijn weten precies wat ze aan elkaar hebben en vullen elkaar goed aan. Grote kans dat we voor een volgende CD René weer opzoeken dus!

Begin 2007 trokken wij ons als allereerste band vijf
weken terug in René zijn nieuwe studio om er
vervolgens weer uit te komen met zeer geslaagde
opnames. Zo gebeurde het dat we er bijna
moesten overnachten omdat Nederland geteisterd werd
door achtereenvolgens een orkaan en een
sneeuwstorm. Nee, het meest fijne van de Dufry Music Studio is René
zelf. Hij is zeer muzikaal, geduldig, geconcentreerd,
snel, lang, vindingrijk en weet het beste uit de
nummers en de muzikanten te halen. Om de concentratie
een hele dag vol te houden doet hij op sommige
momenten even heel gek, op die momenten waren we wel
bang ;-). Je kon hem dan het beste even met rust laten.
Hij is eigenlijk best wel geniaal en heeft daarom soms
wat last van een vorm van valse bescheidenheid, maar
dat siert hem alleen maar.
Wij zijn meer dan tevreden met het eindprodukt en
kunnen zijn studio aan iedere band sterk aanraden!
